Few machines have been as popular with grassroots racers as Chevy II models manufactured from 1962-1967. When building for the strip one shortcoming encountered with these machines is the cumbersome, overweight front end components. If you’re serious about building one of these highly sought after machines into a competitive drag car, this area must be addressed. Manufactured by Chris Alston’s Chassisworks, this precision crafted assembly was developed as a straight forward, bolt-on conversion that addresses all the relevant issues. Designed to accommodate tall-deck engines, large diameter headers and custom plumbing, Chassisworks Chevy II clips are fabricated from 1 5/8”x .083” 4130 round tubing and attach directly to the factory lower frame and firewall mounts. Drag racing chassis must be as light and strong as possible. This unique package weighs in at just 124 pounds (as pictured) and provides an exceptionally rugged, durable platform for suspension, engine mount and steering components. While components can be purchased separately the complete package saves time, expense and potential headaches encountered when mixing parts from a variety of sources. As shown, the Chassisworks Chevy II Strut Clip package includes the factory welded clip in bare steel, double adjustable billet VariStruts, tubular control arms with 4130 rod ends, billet steering rack clamps, drag-race rack and pinion, bumpsteer adjustable tie rod ends and complete disc brake assembly with billet hubs, 10” lightweight rotors (slotted rotors optional) and Wilwood aluminum calipers.
